GEARBULK
SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
PROGRESS AND
PERFORMANCE
We proactively collaborate with key suppliers to enhance
sustainability across our supply chain. Through targeted initiatives, we work to improve waste management, reduce carbon
emissions, and drive long-term environmental and operational
e昀케ciency.
Progress to reduce impact we have on the environment
In collaboration with our primary consumable supplier, we
have been able to e昀昀ectively coordinate the retrieval of used
plastic wrapping generated during the delivery of consumable
supplies. Subsequently, the collected plastic waste undergoes
proper onshore disposal procedures.
We have also partnered with our Freight Forwarder to reduce
our carbon emissions, using the GLEC Framework to map
and measure them. The Freight forwarder calculated Gearbulk’s 2024 transport footprint, totaling 386,993 kg CO2-e.
To o昀昀set these emissions, the Freight Forwarder contributes
to ‘Justdiggit’ – a land restoration organisation in Tanzania.
Progress to reduce impact we have on society
We have made progress in reducing negative impacts on
society by ensuring our vendors adhere to our Supplier
Code of Conduct, which outlines our expectations for ethical
behavior and responsible practices. This code serves as a
guiding framework, emphasising compliance with local laws
and regulations. To support this commitment, we occasionally conduct audits of our vendors to assess their adherence
to these standards. Based on the 昀椀ndings, we engage with
the vendors to 昀椀nd solutions which can be implemented to
strengthen our relationships and promote accountability and
transparency throughout our supply chain. This proactive
approach not only fosters a positive impact on communities
but also reinforces our dedication to ethical business practices, ensuring that our operations contribute to the well-being
of society as a whole.
